Last year, about this time, in fact, I was getting ready to go to a captioning boot camp. I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to learn everything I didn’t know about captioning. I remember sitting in the seminar thinking, oh my gosh, am I ever going to be able to do this?
But it wasn’t long after I finished the boot camp that I was hired by a captioning company. I gave my notice to my reporting firm, said goodbye to the reporting world, and headed for training for my new job.
And just like that, I became a captioner.

If you’re not able to attend this Captioning Boot Camp, I know that there are several others scheduled for this year. I’ll post the dates as soon as I learn them.
Other Court Reporting to Captioning Training Opportunities
Luckily, there are more and more opportunities now for reporters who want captioning training. I have compiled a list of court reporting to captioning programs than I am aware of. If you know of one that’s not listed here, let me know and I’ll add it to my post.
